Sharp Scoring is a live digital scoring and marketplace platform for the professional barbering community. We are committed to being transparent about what data we collect, how we use it, and who can see it.

Who We Are

Sharp Scoring ("we," "us," or "our") is owned and operated by Talon Barnett and Jessica Barnett. For questions about this policy, contact us at support@sharpscoring.com.

Data We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate the platform. Here is what we collect by role:

• Competitors: Full name, Instagram handle, city, license type, email address, phone number, competition category, and a hashed password. We also store scores assigned by judges, final placements, and any photos uploaded for judging.
• Staff (judges, hosts, check-in): No personal account is required. Staff access uses a 4-digit PIN. No name or email is collected for PIN-only staff roles. Judges who create profiles provide their name, city, state, bio, specialties, and contact information voluntarily for the judge marketplace.
• Show owners/organizers: Show name, date, location, and organizer name when creating a show listing.
• Vendors and sponsors: Business name, contact name, email, city, state, business type, and any application notes submitted when applying to shows.
• Educators: Name, bio, city, state, class listings, pricing, and contact information provided for the educator directory.
• Models: Name, city, state, hair type, portfolio photos, and contact information provided when creating a model profile.
• Community members: Display name, email address, city, state, profile photo, and any posts or content you publish to the community feed.
• Device data: We do not collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, precise location data, or behavioral analytics.

How We Use Your Data

• To register competitors and manage show participation
• To display scores and results to authorized judges and competitors
• To send score summaries to competitors when results are released
• To operate the judge marketplace, vendor/sponsor listings, educator directory, and model booking features
• To display community profiles, posts, and rankings on the platform
• To display competition placements in community rankings and leaderboards
• To facilitate messaging between platform users (judges and show owners, vendors and show owners, etc.)

We do not use your data for advertising, behavioral profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the platform and its features.

Photos and Uploaded Content

Photos uploaded to Sharp Scoring — including competition entry photos, model portfolio photos, and community posts — are stored in Firebase Storage (Google Cloud). They are used solely for their intended purpose within the platform (judging, profile display, community feed). We do not sell, license, or share your photos with third parties. See our Terms of Service for the full image rights policy.

Data Storage

All data is stored in Firebase Realtime Database and Firebase Storage (Google Cloud), located in the United States. Google's privacy practices are described at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Passwords are never stored in plaintext. We store a SHA-256 hash of your password and compare hashes during sign-in. We cannot recover your password.

Who Can See Your Data

• Your scores: Visible to the show owner and judges during the event. Visible to you after the owner releases results. Released results may be visible publicly in the Public Results view.
• Your competition placement: Visible publicly in rankings and leaderboards after results are released.
• Your name and handle: Visible to show staff during the event. Visible publicly after results are released.
• Your email address: Visible only to the show owner. Not shared publicly.
• Your judge/vendor/sponsor/educator/model profile: Visible to all platform users as intended for the marketplace.
• Your community posts: Visible to all community members on the platform.
• Your direct messages: Visible only to the sender and recipient.

Data Retention

Competition data remains in the database unless the show owner performs a reset. Judge, vendor, sponsor, educator, and model profiles remain until you request deletion. Community posts remain until you delete them or we remove them for policy violations. We do not have an automatic deletion schedule. To request deletion of your data, contact us at support@sharpscoring.com.

Children's Privacy

Sharp Scoring is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@sharpscoring.com.

Third-Party Services

• Firebase (Google): Database, file storage, and anonymous authentication infrastructure
• Google Fonts: Typography (Bebas Neue, Barlow, Inter) — no tracking or cookies

We do not use advertising networks, analytics trackers, social media pixels, or any third-party data brokers.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made.
