Terms of Service

By using Sharp Scoring in any capacity — as a competitor, judge, vendor, sponsor, educator, model, show organizer, or community member — you agree to these terms in full. Please read them carefully.

1. What Sharp Scoring Is

Sharp Scoring is a proprietary live digital scoring and marketplace platform designed for professional barbering competitions and the barbering community. It is owned exclusively by Talon Barnett and Jessica Barnett.

Sharp Scoring provides the technology — the live scoring system, competitor management, judge marketplace, vendor and sponsor listings, educator directory, model booking, community app, and online battles platform. Sharp Scoring is a platform provider only. We are not a show organizer, employer, talent agent, prize issuer, or event insurer.

2. Intellectual Property — No Copying, No Competition

By using Sharp Scoring, you agree:

• You will not copy, reverse-engineer, clone, scrape, or replicate any portion of this platform — its design, features, scoring workflows, data structures, or business model.
• You will not use information, workflows, or insights gained from Sharp Scoring to build, contribute to, or advise any competing platform.
• You will not extract competitor data, judge data, or platform data for use outside this platform without written permission.
• Your access to this platform does not grant you any license, ownership, or right to reproduce any part of it.

Violation of these terms may result in immediate account termination and legal action. Sharp Scoring reserves the right to pursue all available legal remedies to protect its intellectual property.

3. Who Can Use Sharp Scoring

• Show owners/organizers: Must have a valid show code and owner PIN provided by Sharp Scoring.
• Judges, hosts, check-in staff: Must have a valid PIN issued by the show owner.
• Competitors: Must register with accurate information including legal name, email, and competition category.
• Vendors and sponsors: Must create an account and apply through the platform. Acceptance is at the show owner's discretion.
• Educators: Must create a profile and list classes through the platform.
• Models: Must create a profile and agree to the platform's consent terms.
• Community members: Must register with a valid email address and agree to community conduct standards.

You must be at least 13 years of age to use this service.

4. Sharp Scoring Is a Platform — Not a Party to Your Arrangements

Sharp Scoring connects show organizers with judges, vendors, sponsors, educators, and models. All arrangements, agreements, payments, and disputes are solely between the parties involved. Sharp Scoring is not a party to any arrangement made through this platform and bears no responsibility or liability for:

• Whether judges, vendors, sponsors, educators, or models are paid as agreed
• Whether prizes or awards are delivered to competitors
• Whether a show runs as advertised or is cancelled
• Any dispute between a show organizer and any other party
• Any personal injury, property damage, or loss that occurs at or in connection with any event

Sharp Scoring provides no mediation, arbitration, or dispute resolution services for party-to-party arrangements.

5. Scores, Results, and Finality

Once a show owner officially releases results through Sharp Scoring, those results are final. Sharp Scoring does not adjudicate scoring disputes. All disputes regarding scores, placements, or judging decisions must be taken up directly with the show organizer — not with Sharp Scoring.

Judges are solely responsible for the accuracy and integrity of scores they submit. Score manipulation, coordinated scoring, or any attempt to compromise score integrity is a violation of these terms and will result in removal from the platform.

6. Prizes and Compensation

Sharp Scoring does not pay out prizes, awards, or compensation of any kind. Any prizes associated with a competition are the sole responsibility of the show organizer. Sharp Scoring makes no representation, guarantee, or warranty regarding prizes advertised by show organizers. Competitors, judges, vendors, sponsors, and all other parties agree that any prize or payment disputes are between them and the show organizer exclusively.

7. Photo and Image Rights

By participating in any Sharp Scoring competition or event — as a competitor, judge, model, vendor, sponsor, or attendee — you acknowledge and agree that:

• Photography and video recording may take place at events run through Sharp Scoring. Your likeness, work, and participation may be captured.
• Competitors grant Sharp Scoring a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use competition photos, results, and placement data for platform promotion, leaderboards, and community features.
• Models who create profiles and accept bookings through the platform grant their booking show organizer the right to photograph their cut for competition judging purposes, and grant Sharp Scoring the right to display said photos within the platform for judging and results display. No further use without explicit consent.
• Competitors who upload photos through the platform for online battles or judging confirm they own or have the right to use those photos and that the model in the photo has consented to their image being used for competition judging.
• You retain ownership of your own photos. Sharp Scoring does not claim ownership of user-uploaded content, but you grant us a license to display it within the platform for its intended purpose.

8. Liability Waiver — Competitors

Competition barbering involves live cutting on human models. By competing through Sharp Scoring, you acknowledge and agree that:

• You participate voluntarily and at your own risk.
• You are a licensed or licensed-in-training barbering professional and take full responsibility for the safety of your model during your competition cut.
• Sharp Scoring is not responsible for any cuts, nicks, injuries, allergic reactions, or other harm that occurs to you, your model, or any other person during a competition.
• The show organizer is solely responsible for event safety standards, model waivers, and insurance.

9. Community Content and Conduct

Sharp Scoring includes a community feed, direct messaging, and profile features. By participating in any community feature, you agree:

• You will not post content that is hateful, harassing, discriminatory, sexually explicit, or threatening.
• You will not impersonate another person or brand.
• You will not post spam, promotional content unrelated to barbering, or fraudulent claims.
• You are solely responsible for content you post. Sharp Scoring may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these standards without notice.
• You grant Sharp Scoring a license to display your community posts and profile within the platform.

10. Show Owner Commitments

By organizing a show through Sharp Scoring, show owners agree to uphold the Sharp Scoring standard of integrity, which includes:

• Honest scoring: Running a fair competition and not manipulating results.
• Honor your word: Paying judges, vendors, sponsors, and other talent exactly what you promised them.
• Release results: Publishing competition results to competitors through the platform in a timely manner after the show concludes.
• Professional conduct: Operating your show in a manner that reflects well on the barbering industry and the Sharp Scoring platform.

Show owners who repeatedly fail to honor payments, manipulate results, or damage the platform's reputation may be suspended or permanently removed from Sharp Scoring.

11. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Submit fraudulent, manipulated, or inaccurate scores or registration data
• Share PINs or credentials with unauthorized individuals
• Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the database or platform
• Use the platform for any purpose other than its intended barbering industry functions
• Engage in harassment, discrimination, or abusive conduct toward any other user
• Use information from this platform to build or support a competing product

12. Availability

Sharp Scoring depends on internet connectivity and Firebase (Google Cloud). We strive for maximum uptime but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. The app includes offline score queuing — scores entered while offline are synced when connectivity is restored. We are not liable for data loss resulting from internet outages, device failures, or circumstances outside our control.

13. Data and Privacy

Our use of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy. By using Sharp Scoring, you consent to the data practices described there.

14. Limitation of Liability

Sharp Scoring is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to lost prizes, lost income, event cancellations, or data loss.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as the platform evolves. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made.

16. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Sharp Scoring operates. Any legal disputes will be resolved in the applicable courts of that jurisdiction.
